## How did we collect this data?

We read every price and rule on 30 October 2026:
- **Official prices:** the US online stores of Apple, Sony (PlayStation Direct), Microsoft (Xbox), Nintendo and Valve (Steam). Each product page links its source.
- **Retailer payment rules:** official payment pages where we could read them, otherwise dated secondary sources, marked as such.
- **Crypto stores and gift cards:** each provider's own pages and help centers.
- **Reviews:** Trustpilot pages, read the same day. They are customer allegations.

We made no test purchases. Prices are US prices before sales tax. We did not convert prices shown in Bitcoin to dollars.

Crypto store prices are display prices, not test purchases. Mac for Crypto also advertises 5% off for crypto payments. A price below the official one for a new, sealed device is a reason to check the seller.

Totals: 1 accepts crypto at checkout, 10 do not, 3 could not be confirmed. Apple Pay and Apple Card are payment methods, not retailers, so they are not counted.

## What does the data mean for buyers?

Four findings stand out:
- **Direct crypto checkout is rare.** Newegg is the only major retailer in our check that takes it.
- **Gift cards do not travel.** The Apple USA gift card works only with US accounts, and Apple ships only to US addresses.
- **No-ID limits are below device prices.** 26 of our 57 products cost more than $1,000, Bitrefill's monthly limit without an account. Two cost more than $3,000, BitPay's ID threshold.
- **Prices below the official one need checking.** One of the two stores with lower prices publishes no company or address. The other has one Trustpilot review, which alleges an unconfirmed payment.

For a US buyer paying by card, the official store charges the same list price that we do.

## What are the limits of this data?

It is a one-day snapshot:
- Pages were read by automated extraction on 30 October 2026. Prices and rules change.
- We made no test purchases, so crypto store prices are display prices.
- Official payment pages for B&H Photo, Walmart, Target and Micro Center could not be read directly.
- The current crypto status of Microsoft and Overstock is not established.
- AppleCare+ terms could not be read, so international AppleCare+ cover is not covered here.
- We did not convert Bitcoin prices to dollars.
